Welcome to the Archives of the City of Kingsport Blog!

The purpose of this blog will be to share with the community what the archives is about and what exactly a city archivist does.  I will try and do a variety of postings to highlight new or existing collections, historical photographs and other interesting tidbits about the history of Kingsport.

The Archives of the City of Kingsport is located on the lower Kingsport Public Library and Archives level of the Kingsport Public Library in downtown Kingsport. The mission of the archives is to preserve for consultation and study the documentary heritage of the City of Kingsport. The archives houses papers and photographs of individuals, organizations, industry, business, and non-current City records pertaining to the history of the Kingsport.

  1. Brianne,

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed going through the entirety of your blog. I grew up in Kingsport, graduated from D-B in ’64 and after UT, attended the University of Washington in Seattle. My dad worked as the meat and grocery manager at Oakwood for many years, then at Skoby’s Meat Market. I’m still located in the Seattle area, but very much enjoy and appreciate my hometown on my every-other-year visits there. What is life without a Pal’s hot dog?!! You have an outstanding web site that is surely a blessing to all of us. Thanks again for your fine work.
