Allandale Mansion, located at 4444 West Stone Drive, will be open for free tours on Sunday, July 12 from 1-5. Allandale, dubbed the “White House of Kingsport,” was built for Harvey Brooks and his wife Ruth Haire Brooks. The mansion was designed by the local architect Allen Dryden, Sr.

Upon his death in 1969, Mr. Brooks left his home and 25 acres to the City of Kingsport with a stipulation that it would be for public use. The city did not open the home and grounds officially to the public until May 1983. Allandale Mansion has become a premier venue for special events while groups like Friends of Allandale also strive to maintain and improve the historic integrity of the home.
